Shelter has branched out. Not only does it tackle homelessness and give housing advice, it also specialises in help with community care issues. |
| |
The charity covers problems that you, or someone you care for, might face relating to health, accommodation and care needs. |

Shelter believes everyone should have a home. They help people find and keep a home, and campaign for decent housing for all. |

| |
When people visit the new Community Care advice service, Shelter will assess individual needs - for instance their health and care, they give advice on having necessary alterations to their home. They advise adults and children that have some sort of disability and give the help and support that they may require with their accommodation. |

The new additional service is based in Urmston and reflects the fact that many people seeking housing advice from Shelter often have related problems. Sometimes, it can be difficult to resolve one issue without getting help with the other. |

Manchester service manager Liz Hyatt said “At Shelter, we know many people with housing problems often also need help with other issues and would prefer to be advised by one service. Offering a range of specialised legal help under one roof makes the process much easier. So don’t put off getting advice any longer – make an appointment with Shelter today at our local surgery in Urmston.” |

Peter Nelson, Regional Director for the Legal Services Commission [LSC], which is funding the new services, said: “The LSC funds quality advice providers to improve access to justice, and help people resolve their problems early. Shelter’s new service in Trafford is a great example of making advice more accessible to people in local communities-especially those who are hard to reach. People don’t experience linked up problems that need to be resolved together and new services aim to achieve this”. |
